Gas flow analysis of puffer-type circuit breaker using FGCBM method

This paper presents the flow field analysis in the Puffer-tyep (P-T) circuit breakers. There are many problems in analyzing the flow field in circuit breakers such as shock wave, complex geometry, moving boundary and so on. For the cold gas analysis, the flow field computation for the high voltage gas blast circuit breaker with the moving boundary by meshfree (FGCBM) method[1,2] is employed to solve the Euler equation. The piston and the electric contact are moving. Since the boundary moving, is is difficult for the ordinary finite difference (FD) method or the finite element (FE) method to compute the solution. For the purpose of numerical simplicity and efficiency, we introduced the FGCBM scheme which is an excellent scheme for the time varying domain, Despite the low coding and computational cost, the numerical simulation is successfully conducted.
